The special requirements of motorhomes quickly take conventional spring systems to their limits. They are permanently subjected to high loads from interior fittings and equipment, while the weight distribution is often uneven. As a result, steel springs soon lose their tension, which negatively affects driving comfort and stability. A typical side effect on the vehicle is the often-seen sinking rear. AL-KO air suspension systems are an efficient solution to these problems and ensure long-term driving comfort and stability.

The full air suspension for dynamics and comfort

The fully automatic and maintenance-free Air Premium X2 air suspension system ensures optimum suspension comfort on the AL-KO rear axle(s). An electronically controlled, fully automatic air suspension system with a driving level preset as its base value is responsible for the two-circuit full air suspension principle. 

The system can be automatically levelled or manually adjusted using the soft-touch remote control. For example, the rear axle of the motorhome can be raised by up to 40 millimetres for rough terrain and lowered by up to 50 millimetres for easy loading or entry. At the touch of a button, the Air Premium X2 returns to its normal driving height.

Uneven parking space? No problem! 

The AL-KO Air Premium X2 air suspension system enables the rear of the vehicle to be raised or lowered. You can lower or raise your motorhome up to a speed of 25 km/h by remote control. This means that travelling on a ferry is no longer a problem.

Converting your vehicle for the Air Premium X2

The original suspension in your motorhome consists of three torsion bar springs per axle side. When installing the full air suspension, all three torsion bars on each side are removed and replaced with one air bellow and two finer torsion bars. That places 80 per cent of your motorhome on air suspension. The two additional built-in torsion bars form a safety net in an emergency: If the air suspension stops working for any reason, you can still drive your motorhome thanks to this 20 per cent.
